ABOUT US

Greetings!

My name is Matthew Harris and I’m the Founder of Sister Schools International (SSI). SSI links schools in Asia with education providers throughout Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America - those providers are called Sister Schools, hence our name. SSI is the bridge that allows schools, often in isolated areas, to link with each other through the range of creative, innovative programmes we have created over the years.

SSI started life as Sister Schools New Zealand (SSNZ). Originally linking Asian schools with Sister Schools in New Zealand - my home country. Over the years, things change and Australia and the USA now play a vital role in our mission to link the world through our network of incredible Sister Schools. In 2019, we boast over 250 school partners in 3 continents and see ourselves as a world-leader in the field of international education.

 It is my belief that the majority of the world's problems can be eradicated through education (and immersion). The late, great Nelson Mandela once said;

 “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. “

I couldn’t agree more, Mr Mandela.

“Global Citizenship is about understanding the need to tackle injustice and inequality, and having the desire and ability to work actively to do so. It is about valuing the Earth as precious and unique and safeguarding the future for those coming after us. Global Citizenship is a way of thinking and behaving. It is an outlook on life, a belief that we can make a difference.”
